Every team in College Football has the goal of improving upon their previous season, whether they had a losing season that put them at the bottom of their conference, or barely finished above .500 to put them in the middle of the pack. However, some have the goal of not taking a giant step back from their previous season and falling off from the top of their conference. Here are seven programs who will try to avoid taking that step back in 2014:
7. Clemson Tigers (11-2, 7-1 ACC)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjBv5C9ZfWc Although the Tigers have posted three straight seasons with ten or more wins, Clemson will have their work cut out for them to reach that mark again this season. They'll be losing some offensive firepower in Tahj Boyd and Sammy Watkins, but Offensive Coordinator Chad Morris has a knack for using multiple weapons to power Clemson's offense, which has ranked in the top 15 the past two seasons. On the defensive side of the ball, the Tigers front seven should be fine with All-conference Defensive End Vic Beasley returning, but the secondary poses questions with the losses of Cornerback Bashaud Breeland. Clemson could still contend in the Atlantic Coast Conference if they can get past Florida State in Tallahassee. Projected 2014 Record: (9-3, 7-1 ACC)
