Jürgen Klopp had better make sure his oft-smashed spectacles are in good working order ahead of the ConfedCup, where a wad of prospective Liverpool transfers are set to feature. The aforementioned Timo Werner is on 'Pool's shortlist, alongside compatriot Julian Brandt, who seems certain to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

As with every talented young player in Germany, Bayern Munich are part of the hunt, though the player's agent - and father - insists no deal for his son is in place, and that rather he is considering options abroad. A move to Anfield for the winger remains on the cards.

Wherever he ends up, fans of his new club are in for a treat. A nimble passer and consummate dribbler, the strikingly blonde Brandt regularly dazzles with his array of touchline trickery and fearless forward runs. Far from a traditional lump-it-in-the-box winger, the youngster from Bremen carries a real goal-threat, having already scored 18 times for the North Rhine-Westphalia club.

It'll be very interesting to see how the babyface blitzer links up with Julian Draxler and Timo Werner as part of Germany's untested forward trident. It's not just the highlights of his hair which make the future look bright for Die Mannschaft.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
