Crystal Palace 0-3 Chelsea - 6 Things We Learned

3. Palace Need To Learn To Play Without Bolasie

It's three games since Yannick Bolasie last pulled on a Palace shirt and it's three games since Palace last scored. While Connor Wickham has also been missing in that time, Palace coped without him when he was missing earlier in the season. They don't seem to be able to cope without the Congolese winger. Most clubs would struggle without their most effective forward and would expect performances to suffer slightly but, in the time that Bolasie has been out, Palace have mustered a grand total of seven shots on target. Sometimes teams go on lengthy runs without scoring and they can be unlucky. A wonder save or a smashed crossbar the difference between scoring and going on a wretched run like Palace have. This is not the case here, Palace just haven't looked like scoring. Palace have Aston Villa up next in the league and should have Wickham, Bakary Sako and Yohan Cabaye back in the side. Hopefully they can alleviate the gaping hole in the side left by Bolasie's absence. Either way, Pardew must come up with a plan to break Villa down. Villa cannot continue on their own horrible run forever, Palace need to make sure they're aren't the team they finally beat.
