In a lot of ways, David Alaba goes a little under the radar; or perhaps people just dont talk about left-backs much. He is a fabulous footballer, and is far and away the most effective in his position currently. The speedy Austria and Bayern Munich star- he often plays in midfield for his country, such is his technical excellence- is a faultless player, and one who is still at an age where he will improve greatly. How is he still only 22 years of age? The youngster possesses a wand of a left foot, both from open play and set-pieces, and his superb energy sees him constantly overlapping and giving Bayern an extra attacking dimension. Unlike some left-backs of that ilk though- Roberto Carlos im looking at you- Alaba is also a terrific defender, and if he does ever get caught out of his position, he has the raw pace to atone for his error. Pep Guardiolas side is full of household names, but there arent many players more efficient and important to the side than the 22-year-old. He has the speed of Jordi Alba, final ball of Leighton Baines and defensive excellence of Cesar Azpilicueta- he is, perhaps, a little below the Chelsea man in that aspect of his game- and is a fantastically understated player to watch. Honourable mention: Ricardo Rodriguez
