Davide Santon Takes Parting Shot At Newcastle

Davide Santon may have already departed Newcastle United for Inter Milan - but he hasn't missed the opportunity to have one final dig at his former employers by saying he has now moved to a "club with a future". The defender returned to his former employers Inter on loan in January but that will be turned into a permanent £2.5 million deal this summer - and he has effectively implied that he believes the Magpies are a club without a direction. When he originally moved on loan in January, the 24-year-old did not leave quietly - with his girlfriend Chloe Sanderson slamming Newcastle for the way they had hounded the eight-cap Italian out of Tyneside.

And now, speaking for the first time since his return to Inter became permanent, Santon has taken a veiled dig at the Magpies. Santon told Sky Italia:

"On a personal level, I would say that this second spell at the club has been good so far, even though I haven't been playing as much recently as I did when I joined in January. €œI'm glad I came back though as this is a club with a future. There are plans here and now we need to finish the year on a positive note in front of our fans."

Inter sit eighth in Serie A with a solitary game remaining, and Santon believes his future lies with former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini in Milan. Santon started his career at Inter, making 53 appearances (as well as 11 on loan at Cesena), before he arrived on Tyneside for £5.3 million back in August 2011.
