England vs Germany: 5 Key Tactical Battles That Could Decide The Game

5. Kyle Walker and Ashley Cole vs Marco Reus and Thomas Muller

England fullbacks Walker and Cole can expect a stiff test from members of Germany's supporting cast. They will more than likely face highly versatile attackers Reus and Muller. Will the threat come from wingplay or cutting inside? It could be either. Far more mature defenders than Tottenham right back Walker have failed to shackle Dortmund's Reus playing nominally from the left. He has scored ten goals and made nine assists in 20 club matches in all competitions this term. It is a huge test for Walker then, and his credentials to make him a credible challenger to Glen Johnson. Lions centurion Cole meanwhile can capitalize on Leighton Baines's torrid time against Chile and reaffirm his position as first choice left back. The Chelsea player will need to use all his experience to keep Bayern Munich forward Muller quiet. Operating in various attacking roles, including wide right, in behind and up front for the reigning Bundesliga champions and Champions League holders, Muller has 11 goals and six assists to his credit in the current campaign. He has also registered three times for Germany this season. Attack may be the best form of defence for Walker and Cole.
