European Football Weekend Review - Bayern Smash Stuttgart

Italy

Serie A kicked off on Saturday as new AC Milan signing Giampaolo Pazzini notched an impressive hatrick on his debut. The former Inter striker had been deemed a failure for the Nerazzurri and was part of a swap deal with Antonio Cassano. Both Pazzini and Milan have something to prove this season and following their opening day defeat the three points could be important for their confidence. Two of the promoted teams, Pescara and Torino, faced off and it was the Turin side who ran out 3-0 victors. Sampdoria, the other promoted team, are now two wins from two after a 2-1 win over Siena. Juventus continued their dominant start to the season with a 4-1 annihilation of Udinese. The Bianconeri sold many of their first team players this summer and following their mid-week exit from the Champions League and their inability to claim any points from their opening matches the Zebrette fans will be worried. Napoli halted Fiorentina€™s impressive start to the season with a 2-1 win at the Sao Paolo, while Lazio are now on six points after a 3-0 win over Palermo. Both teams will be challenging for the third Champions League spot after the early capitulation of Udinese. The main focus of the weekend was the big match between Inter Milan and Roma at the San Siro. Cassano struck on his debut but goals from Alessandro Florenzi, Pablo Osvaldo and Marquinho meant the team from the capital left 3-1 winners. Many were expecting an entertaining fixture and it didn€™t disappoint.
