Everton 2-1 Manchester City - 6 Things We Learned

6. It€™s Still Anybody€™s Semi-Final

It would take a brave man to come down off the fence and back one these teams for Wembley. Everton take the slimmest of leads to the second leg at the Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City boast a formidable record this season. The Sky Blues€™ league form on their own turf suggests that the Toffees should be wary heading into the return leg. Pellegrini€™s side have won eight out of their ten home matches this term, scoring 29 times in the process - that€™s more than any other side in the top flight. Not many City fans would have taken a 2-1 defeat ahead of kickoff, but with the away goals rule kicking in if the scores are level after extra time, they will fancy their chances if the likes of Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure can rediscover the form that eluded them tonight. Everton may have lost just once on the road all season, but it€™s also worth noting that they have failed to take three points from any of the teams above them in the table. That said, their performance against City tonight proved beyond doubt that they can take down the best. Now they have to start doing it more consistently.
