Everton Transfers: 5 Replacements For Romelu Lukaku

5. Bafetimbi Gomis (Lyon)

The 28-year-old Frenchman has seemingly been forever touted for a move to England, and after five years at Lyon he looks set to leave the club on a free transfer. With 16 goals in all competition, it is somewhat surprising that the French side are apparently unwilling to offer him a new contract. Like Lukaku, Gomis would offer a big threat in the air, and can be quite skillful on the ground as well. He would be an ideal focal point for Martinez's new-look attack, although there are doubts about his work-rate. As he turns 29 in August, he would also probably not be the long-term solution for Everton, but on a free transfer it would surely make good business sense for the Toffees to bring him in, given his good recent scoring form. The competition may yet be fierce for the French international, as Newcastle have held a long-time interest in his services, and are equally desperate for striking reinforcements. Tottenham and Inter Milan have also been rumoured to be waiting to pounce, but Everton may be the most attractive option for Gomis this summer.
