Everton: Worst Ever Premier League XI

2. Brett Angell (ST)

The less said about Brett Angell the better as far as Evertonians are concerned, and that is why he makes his way on to this list. Everton have had some poor strikers over the years, but Angell is certainly the worst of the bunch. The less said about Brett Angell the better as far as Evertonians are concerned, and that is why he makes his way on to this list. Everton have had some poor strikers over the years, but Angell is certainly the worst of the bunch. The striker endured two awful loan spells and one full season with Everton in the mid-nineties, despite never having proved to be anything near the quality needed in the Premier League. It didn€™t all start badly for Angell though, as at previous clubs Southend and Stockport County he had amassed 75 league goals in 185 games. That attracted the interest of Everton, who duly signed him for £500,000 only to soon learn it was money down the drain. The 6€™4€ striker would make just 20 league appearances for the Blues in his three spells at Goodison Park, scoring a solitary goal in the process and proving to be equally inept with the ball at his feet as he was in the air, with many using the word lumbering to describe his performances. Somehow the club managed to sell him for a profit to Sunderland, where he also struggled before joining Stockport County once again. He retired in 2003.
