10. Max Holloway

Where: UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen

McGregor's second fight in Dana White's circus came against a young 21-year-old Max Holloway, long before he was breaking records in the featherweight division.

McGregor dominated a very kick-heavy first round, also showing off the cocky bravado he would become famous for in years to come, frequently raising his arms and taunting Holloway, even talking at his opponent throughout the fight.

His unique jumping switch kick peaked the interest of the commentary team, as he picked off Holloway on multiple occasions early on by lifting up with the right leg, but kicking with the left.

If the first half was a stand-up battle of striking, the second half was very much the opposite. It took deep into the second round for a takedown to occur, but once they were down, they stayed there for pretty much the rest of the bout. Although the Hawaiian's defence was solid enough, managing to get back to his feet a couple of times, McGregor took him straight back down every time and grinding away.

In the post-fight interview, having won by unanimous decision, McGregor revealed that he had torn his ACL in the second round and apologised for the dour second half of the fight because of it.
