Every Conor McGregor UFC Fight Ranked From Worst To Best

8. Dustin Poirier

Where: UFC 178

Dustin Poirier came up against Conor McGregor ten fights into his UFC career, with eight wins under the belt and a title shot on the horizon if he could keep it going. The two were evenly matched, similar ages at similar stages with the winner likely to be catapulted up the rankings.

The pre-fight trash talk was McGregor personified as his cocky persona continued to take shape relatively early in his career. The stage was set. But alas it was all over in less than two minutes.

The fight had started well, with both fighters testing the waters and being fairly even. Poirier landed some good shots, although nothing major, while McGregor was doing the same. Both men able to pick off their opponent a few times but neither able to land anything of substance. It was a very tense battle of two evenly-matched fighters and it was shaping up to be a classic if it kept going.

Unfortunately for fight fans and Poirier, McGregor dropped the American with a weird glancing left hook that clipped the back of his head, sending him to the canvas where the Irishman finished him off with four more blows to the melon before the referee stepped in.
