7. Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)
Dejan Lovren was criticised heavily last season, and rightly so. He was a walking travesty during more than his fair share of games, particularly for such an expensive signing, but the signs are encouraging for the future. During the opening weekend he may have picked up a yellow card, but his defending helped the Reds to a solid 1-0 win away at Stoke, a team who are expected to cause plenty of teams problems this season. If he keeps that form up, he could be a premium points defender without the premium price tag.
