9. Matt Lowton - £5 Million
Another young defender with the Premier League at his feet, Lowton arrived at Aston Villa from Sheffield United last summer. Normally it can take a young player a year to settle in to the pace and pressures of the big boy league, but not Matt Lowton (and that pains me to say being a Sheffield Wednesday fan!). In my humble opinion Villas unsung hero last season, Lowton was up there with Guzan in terms of performances. 5 million smackers is a small price to pay for someone who, given last years form, Lowton will no doubt be one of the first names on the team sheet this year as Paul Lambert hopes to avoid last years troubles.
