Fantasy Premier League Tips: 10 Last Minute Players You Should Consider

8. Tom Carroll

Club: Swansea City

Cost: £4.5m

He didn't exactly set the world alight last season, but Tom Carroll could be set to play a huge role in 2017-18. The attacking midfielder started just 16 times for Swansea in 16-17, but there's a good reason for that: he was stuck behind an FPL titan.

Gylfi Sigurdsson put up monster numbers in 16-17, but could soon be on his way out of the Liberty Stadium, with Everton reportedly interested in acquiring him. Carroll will almost certainly take his role if he departs, and while it'd be fanciful to expect the Englishman to replicate Sigurdsson's incredible feats, he'll undoubtedly have more opportunities to impress than he did last season, and he's a bargain at £4.5m.

Carroll is still worth picking up even if Gylfi sticks around. The Icelandic international hasn't been involved in any of Swansea's pre-season games, and is expected to miss the first few fixtures, giving his understudy an opportunity to audition for his role.
