Cost: £5m

A rotating centre-back from a midtable Premier League side might not seem like the most attractive FPL prospect, and under normal circumstances, you'd be right. Maya Yoshida played 23 times for Southampton in 2016-17, scoring 78 points in the process - a decent return, but he was often competing with Virgil van Dijk and Jack Stephens for a starting spot.

Fortunately, the uncertainty surrounding van Dijk's future means Yoshida will almost certainly play against Swansea City, and likely anchor Southampton's defence until the Dutchman either moves on, or decides he's staying put.

Yoshida is relatively cheap at £5m, and Swansea will be missing last season's top scorer Frenando Llorente, who broke his arm during the summer. This, coupled with the fact that Southampton boasted one of the league's meanest defences in 16-17, should result in a decent week one points haul. Beyond that, Yoshida's side have a relatively easy start to the season, with their first game against top six opposition coming when they face Manchester United in week seven.
