Formula 1 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Sebastian Vettel Dominates In Desert

The Tail End

Van der Garde was very pleased with his race, claiming it one of his best races ever on his way to P18. He was bumped by Raikkonen in turn one and nearly spun, losing to Pic and Chilton, but then recovered it and overtook Bottas' Williams. He felt the car was excellent and he could really push it, allowing him to take a strong finish ahead of his teammate. Pic followed up P19 as he struggled with understeeer and then balance in the second stint of the race, causing the team to order him to let Van der Garde past him following a row over team radio. He did better in the final stint but it wasn't quite what he hoped for. Marussia were unable to beat the Caterham's, with Bianchi P20 and Chilton P21. Bianchi had to push hard to keep up with them, harming his tyres and leaving the team a little perplexed after their updates he seemed positive. Chilton felt they hadn't shown their full potential and struggled for balance, but he kept up his 100% finishing record for 2013 with only two to go.
