Looking Ahead
In a weeks' time we will head back to the desert for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Another of the more modern circuits, where the race takes place so as to turn from day to night during the course of it, it is a spectacular facility if a very uninspiring race track. A typical Tilke circuit made up of long straights and heavy braking zones, it will offer much the same challenges as India or Korea. The heat may play a part in the race, with tyre degradation potentially becoming a bigger issue and cars lighter on their tyres, such as the Ferrari, coming back into the picture. With everything to play for in the race for second in the constructors' championship, there are still big points to be had as Ferrari, Mercedes and Lotus all seek to take the runner-up position behind Red Bull. Mercedes struck an important blow in India to steal a four point advantage over Ferrari, but things are far from over and Alonso will be back on the hunt for more points in the desert. Behind them McLaren will seek to keep scoring points and moving forward after their fifth place this weekend, while Force India will hope to stay in the points to hold off Sauber in the championship, with Hulkenberg keen to get back into the points again after a disappointing Indian weekend. Torro Rosso will seek to stay in the points after getting back in this weekend, and Williams will hope their improved race pace can continue to Abu Dhabi in the search of any points they can challenge for. With just three rounds left, Marussia will be hoping they can stay ahead of the superior Caterham's in the bid to secure crucial funding for 2014.
