The Tail End
Caterham had a strong afternoon, and thanks to the safety car only finished 13.5 seconds behind Williams on the lead lap. Pic won the battle of the green machines, edging out his teammate Van der Garde by a second to take a valuable 14th and 15th place finish, key for the championship race as they seek to take tenth place from Marussia. Van der Garde was penalised with a drive through for forcing Bianchi off the track early in the race and then had to pit immediately, dropping him to the back, but he fought back well and the safety cars helped him and Pic out. Bianchi drove a solid race in his Marussia to finish only three seconds behind the second Caterham, with teammate Chilton less than five seconds further back for the 16th and 17th place result that helps maintain their position in the constructors. Their pace wasn't quite where they expected it to be, but both drivers were pleased with the weekend and felt their team did a great job.
