Fulham 2-0 Aston Villa: 5 Things We Learned

4. There's Life In The Old Dog Yet

Under Jol much was made about the age of Fulham's side, indeed the average age of the team on Sunday was more than 31. However, as Meulensteen put it after the match, with age comes valuable experience. Giorgos Karagounis was sublime in the midfield against Villa, spraying his passes all around the pitch. At 36 years old the Greek player is no spring chicken, but the experience and know-how he brings to the Fulham side is invaluable. Where Jol potentially went wrong was his over reliance on the older players. Meulensteen has already shown his desire to create a marriage between youth and experience. Seyed Dejagah and in particular Alexander Kacaniklic, give the Whites the speed they need to compliment an experienced midfield trio.
