Fulham Transfer News: Dimitar Berbatov Set To Join Monaco?

Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov is set to join French side Monaco, according to the Guardian's chief football writer Daniel Taylor on Twitter. Taylor wrote on the micro-social networking site that Berbatov's move to Monaco is 'very much a goer' and that he is on his way to the Ligue 1 outfit. It had earlier been reported that the former Manchester United forward was set for a deadline day move, with a shock transfer to former club Tottenham mooted. However, it now looks as though he will join Monaco instead of opting for a return to White Hart Lane.
Berbatov's potential move from Fulham to Spurs was originally set to spark some late deals between the two sides, with the Cottagers keen on Lewis Holtby. But in spite of the Bulgarian apparently opting for a move outside of England, Holtby's transfer to Craven Cottage very much remains a possibility, according to a further Tweet from Taylor.
Holtby has had to settle for a bit-part role at Spurs this season and has fallen down the pecking order under new manager Tim Sherwood. The Germany international has played just eight minutes of Premier League football in Tottenham's last five league games and a move could boost his World Cup hopes.
