It goes without saying that the great man has a special place in all Geordies' hearts, but John Carver made a deal of the fact he used to work alongside Sir Bobby Robson all too regularly during his time as Head Coach. It's almost as if Carver was openly saying that the fact he was once Sir Bobby's assistant, and that he's a Geordie of course, are the only reasons he got the job in the first place. Here's one of the more respectable times JC used the Sir Bobby line to divert attention from his own frailties:
Im a Catholic and I believe Sir Bobby Robson will be looking down on me, I really do. Hell be there with us. He will be in the technical area with us.
