Following the success of his investment fund, and in response to his Oscar nod, Kobe launch media platform Granity in 2018.

The purpose for this platform is to inspire content creation among young people, a means of bringing content across book-publishing, television and film. So far, the project has produced his NBA Analysis show "Detail", in which he dissects and analyses the talents of NBA stars over the course of each episode. It has also produced a plethora of reputable podcasts and played host to his best-selling book "Mamba Mentality: How I Play the Game".

A genuine believer in sports, sports media and the innovation of young people, Kobe's outline for Granity was that it must embrace creativity and allow for progressive young minds to produce content. A focus of his was that he did not believe that enough content currently existed which combined passion for sports and sincere, original storytelling.

So far, with the likes of decorated NFL Quarterback Peyton Manning joining the show to help narrate a football driven project, ESPN's "Detail" has amassed over 3.5m paid subscribers, with the numbers growing steadily as the project expands.
