Larsson Eager For New Sunderland Recruits

Swede hoping for fresh blood to drive the Black Cats forward.

Seb Larsson is looking forward to more new signings joining up with the Sunderland squad as pre-season well and truly gets underway in America.

The 30-year-old Swede was a revelation in central midfield last season, winning the club€™s Player of the Season Award for his efforts, and is hoping to make a similar level of impact when the season gets underway in August.

However, there€™s still a lot of hard work to be done over the next few weeks of pre-season, and more signings to come, including Jeremain Lens and Nicolas Lombaerts, who may even jet across to join their teammates in the States.

Larsson told the Chronicle: €œI feel good. I had a couple of weeks with Sweden after the end of the season, a couple of games and then some time off after. I feel fit, there wasn€™t time to lose too much (fitness), and it€™s good to be back.

"It€™s been alright so far. It was a long day, travelling over. But yesterday was a good day, we had back to back sessions. It€™s all about fitness now. Obviously we€™ve got games coming up and we want to do well. But early on in pre-season it€™s just about getting that fitness, getting the feeling back and then the performance in games becomes more important.

€œIt€™s about fitness and getting the team together, obviously, with Adam (Matthews) and a couple of young guys joining up, and hopefully there€™ll be a few more turn up. It€™s good to get everybody together, to get to know each other a bit more and bond as a team.

€œYou do all the training, but games are different. It€™s really important to get minutes under your belt and hopefully we can play some decent football as well."
