Liverpool: 10 Reasons Why Rodgers Must Face The Axe

8. Failure To Win Trophies

Three years, zero trophies. This simply is not good enough for a Liverpool side who want to be taken seriously. Put it this way - in Rodgers€™ time at the helm, Wigan Athletic have won more domestic cups than Liverpool. Yes, now-League One side, Wigan Athletic.

To think that an outlay of just over £215m has not brought in players with enough quality to win a singular trophy in three years of trying is hugely alarming, to say the least. Although the Northern Irishman praised his team's efforts in getting to two semi-finals, you need to actually lift the trophy to consider it a €œgood cup run€, surely.

Another trophy-less season should really put the final nail in the coffin for Rodgers, as even Kenny Dalglish, who won the Carling Cup and actually reached the final of the FA Cup during his final year at Liverpool, was sacked by FSG a matter of weeks later after a cripplingly poor Premier League campaign.

Sounds familiar.
