Liverpool Transfer News: Carlos Tevez Could Make Shock £8 Million Switch To Anfield

Daily Mirror, Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is being lined up as the potential replacement for un-happy Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez. The Anfield club are reportedly preparing to snap up the Citizens striker for as little as £8 million if Luis Suarez decides to leave Merseyside this summer. Argemtine international Tevez, 29, has claimed in recent years that he is homesick and even went AWOL for several months earlier in Roberto Mancini's reign and put any hopes of moving back to South America behind him. Whilst a deal to bring Tevez to Anfield may represent a fairly small amount, his £200,000-a-week wages could be a potential problem in the deal. The Argentine snubbed the chance to join Manchester United on permanent deal after a lengthy and successful loan spell and instead joined close rivals Manchester City from South American side Corinthians for a fee of £25 million in the summer of 2009. Whilst Tevez could be a cheap alternative to Suarez with just eleven goals in 34 games compared to Suarez€™s 23 league goals in 33 games, it is clear that Liverpool would be losing out on a lot of star power should their number seven depart. Luis Suarez has announced he is unhappy in the Premier League, but despite his plea, Liverpool have stated that their top goal scorer must hand in an official written transfer request if he wants to leave the club. Suarez has been linked with a move away to Spanish giants Real Madrid who are set to offer up to £40 million for the aggressive striker. Ahead of Manuel Pellgrinin€™s rumoured appointment at the Etihad, Manchester City have already completed the signings of Sevilla€™s Jesus Navas as well as Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernandinho for a combined fee of £54 million, suggesting the blue side of Manchester may be looking to move players on to accommodate.
