Liverpool Transfer News: Craig Bellamy To Join QPR

Mark Hughes wants a Welsh reunion with the former Man City forward

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Mark Hughes is set to launch a bid to bring Welsh striker Craig Bellamy to Queens Park Rangers, reuniting the two men who have previously worked together at Man City and with the Welsh national side. Bellamy had been expected to move to hometown club Cardiff City where he spent a loan spell a couple of seasons ago before joining up with Liverpool, but the chance to remain in the Premier League, and to join up with good friend Hughes has reportedly put that move in doubt. New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had previously hinted at the Cardiff switch when he revealed that only a 'really special and unique opportunity' would see Bellamy leave Anfield, but the player's head has now been turned by the offer from Loftus Road. 33-year-old Bellamy would likely be available for a minimal transfer fee, since he now has just one year left on his current short-term deal, and if he did choose to join QPR, he would be the seventh signing of a particularly busy summer window for Mark Hughes' side. The former Man City manager has already cut deals to bring in Ji-Sung Park and Fabio from Manchester United, Robert Green, Andy Johnson and Ryan Nelsen on free transfers, and midfielder Samba Diakite who came in permanently from Nancy after a successful loan spell last term. Brendan Rodgers yesterday confirmed the signing of 21 year old former Chelsea striker Fabio Borini from Roma, who the Northern Irish manager had previously worked with at Swansea, as he looks to rebuild confidence at Anfield following a largely disappointing season under Kenny Dalglish. He is likely to sanction further outgoing deals to trim the squad before the season begins, and Bellamy's move is likely to be pushed through sooner rather than later. What do you think Liverpool fans? Could Bellamy still do a job at Anfield? Or are you happy to see him leave? Share your thoughts below.
