Liverpool Transfer News: Fabio Borini Arrives At Anfield

ew Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will complete the £11 million signing of Italian international striker Fabio Borini this weekend.

Liverpool Echo. The Reds have agreed a fee for the striker and will now attempt to thrash out personal terms with the 21-year-old. The player has also arrived at the Melwood training ground to undergo a medical. Borini is desperate to join Liverpool and link up with his former mentor, so there seems to be little in the way of the move going through. The transfer is expected to be completed in the next 48 hours, Borini becoming Brendan Rodgers' first signing on Merseyside. As has been well documented, Rodgers knows Borini extremely well and worked with the player as he was developing as a Chelsea academy prospect. When Rodgers moved to Swansea, Rodgers brought Borini in on loan and his impressive performances helped the Welsh based club gain promotion to the Premier League where he scored six goals in nine games. The Northern Irishman has been desperate to secure Borini's services all summer. The player was part of Cesare Prandelli€™s Euro 2012 Italy squad and was part-owned by Roman and Parma, so on paper it was a complicated deal for Liverpool to agree a fee with both clubs for his services however Roma bought the second half of Borini's rights last month for £6 million that has helped the deal go through. It is expected that Liverpool have paid a fee of up to £10 million for his services.
