Liverpool Transfer News: Heung-Min Son For £8.4m

According to a report by German source TransferMarketWeb (via CaughtOffside) Liverpool are preparing to make a ‚10.5m (£8.4m) bid for Hamburg's 20 year old South Korean international Heung-Min Son, who has started the season well, scoring three goals in six games, and attracting the attentions of some of Europe's big teams in the process. Heung-Min Sonhas been with Hamburg since 2008, when he dropped out of Dongbuk High School and joined the club's youth academy at the age of 16, and has scored 11 goals in 46 league appearances for the Germans in the three years since he became part of the first-team. He emerged as a regular in Thorsten Fink's starting first-team last season, playing either on the wing or as an out and out striker, and was a favourite with FIFA 12 players thanks to impressive stats and his tendency to grow quickly as a player. CaughtOffside suggest that Liverpool need attacking reinforcements after the departure of Andy Carroll to West Ham and the subsequent failure to sign Clint Dempsey saw the Merseysiders left with just two recognised senior strikers in the shape of Luis Suarez and Italian Fabio Borini. The same report states that whether or not Heung-Min Son would be tempted by a move to the Premier League may well depend on just how much his current club can improve on last season€™s poor 15th placed finish in the Bundesliga. So far, however, despite Heung-Min's goals and the return of former Spurs man Rafael Van der Vaart, Hamburg have lost three of their first six Bundesliga games this term.
