Liverpool Transfer News: Iago Aspas Signs For £9 Million From Celta Vigo

Telegraph. Aspas will complete his move to the Premier League next week when he arrives in Liverpool for a medical following the conclusion of the La Liga season this weekend. Celta are currently embroiled in a relegation battle in Spain. Aspas becomes Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers' second signing in just two days after securing the signature of veteran Manchester City defender Kolo Toure yesterday, who joins the Merseyside club on July 1st on a free transfer. Able to play in several attacking roles including as a central striker or out on the wings, Aspas would seem ideal for Rodgers' favoured 4-3-3 formation, and a front-line of Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Iago Aspas looks particularly mouth-watering for the Reds. Where the signing of Aspas leaves Andy Carroll should be interesting to see unfold over the coming weeks. Both West Ham United (where Carroll has spent the last season on loan with manager Sam Allardyce keen to bring him to Upton Park permanently) and Carroll's home-town club Newcastle United are constantly linked with a big money move for the lanky England forward... and the signing of Aspas would seem to indicate that once again he is not in Rodgers' plans.
