Liverpool Transfers: 10 Signings To Ensure Premier League Glory
3. Mattia Perin
Competition in goal is something Liverpool have not had for the past decade, and it has caused some problems in recent years. When Simon Mignolet was having a tough time earlier on this season, Brad Jones came in, and his performances were less than impressive. As of late Mignolet has looked much more impressive, notably his performance at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup was one of his best performances for the club, but competition for his spot could move him to the next level. Thats where Mattia Perin comes in. Dubbed as the next Gianluigi Buffon, the Genoa stopper is just 22-years-old and has over 10 years at the top level ahead of him. He would provide the perfect competition for Belgian Mignolet. The Italian was linked with Liverpool in January when Mignolet was struggling for form, but with his resurgence, it has cast doubt whether Liverpool need a new number one goalkeeper. More strength in depth is certainly required. Perin would keep Mignolet honest and looking at teams like Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal, they all have two keepers who can pass for first choice. Perin has got great qualities for a goalkeeper, he commands his box well and is comfortable with the ball at his feet, which Rodgers admires.
