abel xavier Signed by Gerrard Houllier from cross town rivals Everton in 2002 Abel Xavier will perhaps be remembered more for his wacky haristyles than any footballing ability. This does not mean that his distinct lack of any of the aforementioned should be overlooked. After scoring on his debut the full back displayed his true colours with a series of dreadful performances before leaving to Galatasaray on loan and being told by the club never to return. At £800,000 at least Xavier didn€™t leave too large a hole in the budget, but his 14 league appearances for the club will not be remembered fondly for any who were unlucky enough to witness them.
