Liverpool Transfers: 5 Left-Wingers Brendan Rodgers Must Buy

4. Hatem Ben Arfa

Another option for Rodgers on the left-wing is Newcastle's Hatem Ben Arfa. Although he has rarely played in that position for Newcastle, he is of course left-footed and could form a deadly partnership on that side of the field with his former team-mate Jose Enrique. The France international had his season decimated by injury in the 2012/13 campaign and was limited to just 19 Premier League appearances, though that has not deterred the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Monaco, all of whom retain an interest in the 26-year-old. Ben Arfa could be tempted by a return to France having began his career with Lyon, but then, he has already spent seven years of his career in the country having also had a stint at Marseille, and therefore could be more inclined to continue his stay in England and seek a fresh challenge at Liverpool. According to reports, it would take £10 million to prise the winger away from St James' Park, where the wideman has still managed to score a relatively impressive 11 goals in 56 appearances, injury spells considered.
