2. Jordan Henderson
If Liverpool wish to develop a replacement for Gerrard from within ... then Jordan Henderson is the man. For the first time during his Anfield career, the 21 year-old English international was a consistent starter for Brendan Rodgers in 2013 and showed signs of a player worthy of a
£20 million price tag. However, he has much to learn. Henderson is an excellent aerobic athlete who can give you 90 minutes of hard-running football and knows how to pick out a pass. Where he lacks as a player is his finishing as it took him a long time to get his first league goal for Liverpool, but has shown signs of improvement in that area in the latter half of the season. For the now, Henderson appears well and truly in Rodgers plan for the future. He seemingly has the time to develop into a Steven Gerrard type as his athleticism allows him to play box-to-box with ease, but he needs to turn his consistent starts into consistent good form at Liverpool. He has no doubt learnt a great deal from Stevie in the past 24 months at Anfield and let's hope a great deal more rubs off on him. With more time on the park next season, Jordan will continue to hone his talents and feel more like he belongs at this level. Hopefully for Liverpool fans he can amerce from the question mark that remains above him and develop into a robust midfielder both The Reds and, indeed England, hope he can be.
