Liverpool Transfers News: Assaidi Set To Sign

Morocco international winger on his way into Anfield?

Brendan Rodger's Liverpool have revealed that they are set to sign Morocco international winger Oussama Assaidi from Dutch side Heerenveen, according to the BBC. 24-year-old Assaidi is to undergo a medical at the club's Melwood training ground ahead of possibly becoming Brendan Rodgers' third signing of the summer after he finalised deals for both Fabio Borini and Joe Allen. The winger, who previously played for De Graafschap has scored 20 goals in 68 appearances for Heerenveen, including a hat-trick during an eye-catching 6-2 victory over Heerenveen that brought him to the attentions of Europe's biggest sides thanks to his hand in all six goals. He has also represented Morocco 22 times since making his international debut in February 2011, scoring one goal. The BBC stated that the fee agreed for Assaidi has not been revealed by the Merseyside club, but the Daily Mail have suggested that the deal will see Liverpool pay £3m, and that the player will triple his £7,000 a week wages with a four year contract at Anfield. The Guardian suggest that the figure is closer to £2.4m. Rodgers also spoke yesterday about his desire to bring in a couple more players in the next couple of days, and The Guardian suggest that the manager is also pursuing loan deals for Nuri Sahin of Real Madrid and Barcelona's Cristian Tello. Yesterday attacking midfielder Charlie Adam was linked with a move away from the club, and with Allen and Borini added to the squad, it seems Rodgers' squad is beginning to take shape on the eve of the new season. What do you think Liverpool fans? Will Assaidi plug the hole left by the departures of Craig Bellamy, Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez? Share your thoughts below.
