Liverpool Transfers: Southampton Raid Could Continue With Jay Rodriguez

Are the Reds set to sign a fourth Southampton player this summer?

One gets the feeling that Southampton are already reeling from selling several first team players this summer, but Liverpool seem set to raid their Premier League rivals for a FOURTH time in a matter of weeks to snap up Saints striker Jay Rodriguez, following the collapse of Loic Remy's move to Anfield. The Reds called off their move for QPR striker Remy on Sunday after concerns over the Frenchman's medical - reportedly after a second opinion on a long standing heart condition - but the Daily Star now report that Brendan Rodgers has wasted little time in turning to an alternative target. Liverpool have already taken Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren from St. Mary's this summer, but Rodriguez is now thought to be the latest target as they look to fill the boots of Luis Suarez, who joined Barcelona earlier this summer. Rodriguez is still suffering from an injury he picked up against Manchester City at the end of last season and he should remain sidelined until October, but Liverpool are thought to be keen on testing Southampton's resolve to keep the player even though they have already offered the striker a new five-year contract to stay with the club. As well as the new Liverpool trio, Southampton have also lost star full back Luke Shaw to Manchester United and are set to sell Calum Chambers to Arsenal in the coming days, making their squad for next season almost unrecognisable from the end of the last campaign. Tottenham are also said to be interested in Rodriguez, though Liverpool are currently in the box seat as they just seem to love the idea of taking all of Southampton's players...
