Carragher's inclusion is an absolute no-brainer. He is undoubtedly one of the greatest defenders in Liverpool's history, and was a remarkably solid servant between 1996 and his retirement in 2013. Having started his Reds career as a versatile squad player, often playing at right-back or in midfield, he suddenly started to shine as a centre-back during the early part of the century, particularly following a broken leg suffered in 2003. From that point on, he never looked back. He was colossal during Liverpool's incredible march to Champions League glory in 2005, producing defensive masterclasses in the semi-final against Chelsea and final against AC Milan. Between 2004 and about 2009, Carragher was one of the best centre-backs in Europe, but because he wasn't as glamorous as someone like Rio Ferdinand or Alessandro Nesta, he didn't always get the respect he deserved. Carragher made 737 appearances for the club, winning a Champions League, UEFA Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups. He also won Liverpool's Player of the Year award on three occasions (1999, 2005 and 2007).
