Man City Transfers: 10 Players Pep Guardiola Could Bring To Etihad
5. David Alaba (Bayern Munich)
Manchester City have a couple of solid left backs in their squad, with both Aleksandar Kolorov and Gael Clichy decent options. Neither are truly excellent though, and that's something Guardiola may want to address as he looks to build a side in his image. One of the likeliest targets involves going back to the club he's leaving, with David Alaba one of the players he may try to bring with him to the Etihad. Alaba had made considerable strides before the Spaniard took over, but in the last couple of years has taken his game to the next level, and is now one of the best left backs in world football. It's a move Bayern would want to resist, but if the price is right and the player wants to go, then this could happen. An alternative to this is another Bayern player, Juan Bernat. Guardiola brought the Spanish defender to the Allianz Arena, and if Alaba isn't a feasible option, then Bernat may be the one he turns to.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
