Man City Transfers: 5 Players Who Must Be Sold
2. Fabian Delph
Former Leeds United man Fabian Delph was branded a snake by Aston Villa fans when he left for Manchester City in 2015, and many football fans and pundits doubted he'd ever do much more than warm the bench with the Etihad outfit.
At first, they were proven right. Delph didn't see much action in his first two seasons in Manchester, and it seemed like he was destined to be a bit-part player, forced to seek first team football elsewhere. Then, when City's French full-back Benjamin Mendy got injured early last season, Pep Guardiola tried something drastic. He felt that Delph, a defensive midfielder by trade, had all the attributes necessary to fill in at left-back. It seemed like a risky manoeuvre, but it paid off.
Delph had a fine season with City and even played himself back into the England team. He made 29 appearances in all competitions and became an integral part of Pep's Premier League winning team. There's every chance that he'll stick around in Manchester for another season, but the odds are against him this time. With Mendy back, Delph won't be occupying that left-back spot next season, and he has little chance of appearing in midfield either.
