5. Mario Gomez
The Bayern Munich frontman could be on the way to the Etihad this summer after growing frustrated with life at the Allianz Arena. The German international played second-fiddle last season to Mario Mandžuki and was limited to just 21 Bundesliga appearances and, despite Bayern going all the way to the Champions League Final, only made 7 European appearances. Added to that, the new era currently being ushered in at the Bavarian club under new manager Pep Guardiola is likely to see one or two new high-profile acquisitions with strikers such as Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski being linked with a move to the European champions recently, which would restrict Gomez's appearances even further next season should he stay. Last week, reports on the continent indicated Gomez was set to hold meetings with his agent to mull over the transfer options available to him, one of which is a move to the Etihad. Despite the 27-year-old's recent fall from grace in Germany, he is still a world class forward and the season before last netted 26 league goals, proving he'd be a good acquisition for City if he is able to recapture his form.
