Man City vs Man Utd: Where The Game Will Be Won & Lost
The Midfield Battle
The battle for dominance in the centre of the park will most likely determine the outcome of the result at the Etihad on sunday, and this is an area that City are particularly strong in. In Yaya Toure City have a player that provides them with an unrivalled degree of physical presence. Nobody in the Premier League can match the Ivorian physically, and with Fernandinho drafted in over the summer to play alongside Toure, City will be even stronger in this department. However, Manchester United were busy signing their own central midfield player this summer as well, bringing in Fellaini for big money. Alongside Michael Carrick they will provide stern opposition to the Toure/Fernandinho pairing. It remains to be seen whether or not the former - who will most certainly be accompanied by another central midfield player - will be able to stop Toure's surging runs from deep as well as the threat provided by Nasri who will deputise for the injured Silva. If Fellaini can keep Yaya Toure under control, and Carrick can dictate the pace of the game then United's chances of winning will drastically increase.
