Manchester United have completed the signing of Dutch left back Alexander Buttner on a five-year deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £3.9 million. The 23-year-old announced on Sunday that he was set to have a medical the next day ahead of his €˜dream move€™ to Old Trafford. After completing his medical, Alexander Buttner officially became a Manchester United player on Tuesday, leaving behind his former team, Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem. Buttner being Manchester United€™s fourth signing of the summer, spoke of his joy at completing the move:
€œJoining Manchester United is one of the best days of my life. It€™s a team I have admired for many years now and I can€™t wait to join my teammates and play my part in helping the club be successful.€
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson also added his opinion on the young talent:
€œAlexander is one of the best young left backs in Europe and we€™re delighted to sign him. He€™s someone we€™ve been watching for a while now. He gives us some really exciting options in that position.€
Buttner looks likely to be back up for Patrice Evra, in order to give the 31-year-old Frenchman more rest during the long campaign ahead. Manchester United€™s spending is now just over £50 million having purchased Robin van Persie, Shinji Kagawa, Nick Powell and now Alexander Buttner source - The Sun
