Man Utd: 5 Awesome Strikers And 5 That Sucked

5. Andy Cole

andycole Andy Cole joined Man United in 1995 from Newcastle United in a deal worth £7 million - then a record British transfer fee. Despite only joining up with his new teammates in the January window, he was still able to register 12 goals in 18 Premier League games for the Red Devils, and his arrival coincided with one of the most successful periods in United's history. Striking up a lethal partnership with Dwight Yorke, Cole banged in 93 goals in 195 appearances at the Theatre of Dreams throughout his six-year spell at the club, and won 5 league titles, two FA cups, two Community Shields and was a part of that 1999 Champions League-winning squad. Cole and Yorke tore up the Premier League and their goal-laden spells at United coincided with those of Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, providing the Red Devils with arguably one of the most potent attacking quartets in history - though Wayne Rooney and co may have something to say about that following this seasons' performance. Cole would later go on to play for hated rivals Manchester City (but we don't hold it against him, too much) along with Sunderland, Burnley and Nottingham Forest, where he ended his career in 2008.
