Man Utd: Celebrating Ryan Giggs' 23 Greatest Goals On His 40th Birthday

15. vs QPR, 1993

Today, Giggs has lost much of the speed that allowed him to forge slamming runs down the touchline, a quality that helped him score this classy goal vs QPR in 1993. After leaving several QPR defenders for dead, Giggs exploded past his markers to lash home a goal that would earn him comparisons to the legendary George Best.

14. vs Liverpool, 1994

The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool is one for the ages, and back in the 1990s, it was the Anfield crowd celebrating a record-haul of English titles. Giggs quietened them down (and indeed, United would go on to quiet them down in future years) by sending a sumptuous chip over the Reds goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area to make it 2-0, and a memorable United win in 1994.

13. vs Benfica, 2012

After collecting the ball from the right at the edge of the penalty area against Benfica in the Champions League, Giggs took a touch, opened his body and drilled home an absolute belter into the top corner of the net to prove, in 2012, you can teach an old dog new tricks.

12. vs Bolton, 2003

When Manchester United were awarded a free-kick against Bolton in 2003, everyone expected David Beckham to take it. Instead, Giggs stepped up to drive the ball into the top corner of the net with a strike that 'Golden Balls' himself would have been proud to have called his own.

11. vs Chelsea, 2005 (Community Shield)

In the 2005 Community Shield, Giggs opened the scoring against Chelsea in a game that exemplified the Welshman's change of playing style. Instead of the veteran doing all the running down the wings, he was instead teed up by Cristiano Ronaldo from the flanks to smash home first time from the middle of the penalty area.
