Man Utd Next Manager: 8 Candidates To Replace David Moyes
6. Carlos Queiroz (Current Odds: 25/1)
Chances of him taking the job: High. Chances of it being offered: Slim-to-none. The 61-year old Portuguese spent 6 years as Alex Ferguson's assistant at United from 2002-2008, over two spells, a very disappointing one-year stint as Real Madrid coach in 2003-04 breaking them apart, so has experience at the club. Having left United to manage the Portuguese national side to their 2010 World Cup Campaign- eventually being defeated by eventual champions Spain in the first knockout round, Queiroz has since been managing the Iranian national side since 2011 and has got them to Brazil come the summer- a feat worthy of appreciation. Once again, at odds of 25/1, this one is a justified long-shot at best. Whilst Guardiola and Mourinho's candidacy suffers from their own personal prerogative, I have little doubt Queiroz would accept the call, should Manchester United make it, however the only possible way I could ever see them doing that is as a desperate, last resort. Queiroz's experience at managing at club level and especially top club level is limited and suspect. His advice has been reputed to have brought in some of United's worst signings in recent memory and his woeful stint as Real Madrid coach in 2003-04, saw them end the season trophy-less and in 4th place despite possessing some of the best players in the world at the time. Put simply, he isn't good enough to manage Manchester United and he wont.
