Man Utd Transfer News: Marouane Fellaini & Leighton Baines "Not For Sale"
Manchester United's proposed £30 million joint-bid for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines looks set to fail with Everton keen on keeping the duo, according to the Guardian. The Toffee's will reject any formal bid from the champions for the midfielder and left-back, with new manager Roberto Martinez intent on retaining his two prized assets ahead of his first season in charge at Goodison Park. United manager David Moyes is weighing up the prospect of a double swoop on his former club and making a joint-offer worth a minimum of £30 million for Fellaini, who would strengthen his midfield, and Baines, who is seen as the long-term successor for Patrice Evra at left-back. But Everton remain insistent that neither are for sale, and have already rejected an opening £12 million bid from the Red Devils for Baines. And United are also keen on Fellaini after missing out on No.1 transfer target Cesc Fabregas, who is staying at Barcelona. The Toffee's don't want to lose their manager, first-choice left-back and key midfielder to United all in one summer, and are therefore reluctant to do business. However, a higher offer of between £35-40 million for the Belgian and the Englishman would seriously test the Merseyside club's resolve to hang on to the players.
