Man Utd Transfer News: Red Devils To Make January Bid For Ilkay Gundogan?

Daily Star. The German international has been on Gunner's manager Arsene Wenger's radar in the past, and he would love to pair him up with compatriot Mesut Ozil in his midfield. However, United are also looking to strengthen in the middle of the park, despite having already brought in Marouane Fellaini for £27.5 million on transfer deadline day. The Red Devil's interest in Gundogan dates back to 2011, with the 22-year-old even stating at the time that United were his "dream club". Instead, however, Dortmund snapped him up from FC Nuremburg for £4 million. Since then, Gundogan has won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup with the German outfit and a series of fine performances have seen his market value rocket to £30 million. The starlet has only played one game for Dortmund this season however after sustaining a back injury while on international duty. Gundogan could even be sidelined until January, at which point United may weigh up the possibility of making a move when the winter transfer window opens. Dortmund are currently in talks with the midfielder and are trying to tie him down to a new contract, but the player was coy when pressed on his future. He has been quoted as saying recently:

"I am not going to make statements on the contents of those talks. "Everyone has to be patient about it, just like I have to be patient in terms of my current injury."
Gundogan is under contract at Dortmund until 2015.
