Man Utd Transfer News: Roberto Mancini Targets Nemanja Vidic For Galatasaray
Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is leading the race to secure Nemanja Vidics signature when his contract expires this summer. The charismatic Italian, who led the Sky Blues to their first ever Premier League Crown in May 2012 is now managing Turkish outfit Galatasaray, and is understood to be prepared to agree a deal now for the 32-year-old defender, who confirmed this week that he doesn't intend to extend his contract at Manchester United when it runs out at the end of the season. The inspirational former Serbian international has been an instrumental part of the United defence since he joined from Russian side Spartak Moscow in 2005, and is currently the club captain at Old Trafford. He's had a fantastic 8 years in England, winning five Premier League titles, the 2008 UEFA Champions League, and the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup, and no less than 5 domestic cup titles. However, both his and 35-year-old Rio Ferdinand see their contracts run out this summer, and with the latter thought to be on the verge of retiring, it looks like Moyes will be in the market for a new set of centre-backs come May. Galatasaray are among a number of clubs thought to be vying for the 32-year-old, with strong interest from Italian clubs Juventus and Napoli also reported.
