Man Utd Transfers: 10 Players Sir Alex Must Sign In January

Now that the Premier League season is seven games old, and the International break has afforded some opportunity for evaluation, it is time to reflect on the first chapter of this year's competition, and see exactly which areas teams need to strengthen in, either to take advantage of their strong start (as in the case of Everton), to pinpoint exactly where the summer's transfer activity was lacking (as in the case of Newcastle United), or to kick on after a relatively poor start (as in the case of Liverpool). For Manchester United the start to the season has been a mixed bag of relatively poor form, but reasonably good results, and it is somewhat telling that United didn't hit their strides until last week's match against Newcastle at St James Park, according to their manager. Though they have won games, at times United have looked uncharacteristically shaky at times - especially in the losses at Everton and Spurs, and it is something that needs to be addressed if Sir Alex wants to mount a challenge on city rivals Man City for the title again this year. They haven't yet been punished for their relative weaknesses, but United certainly need to strengthen defensively, while it now appears they need a winger to replace Nani, and either a defensive anchor or a creative influence or both in midfield. There are certainly areas to develop, and Sir Alex should take the opportunity of the January transfer window to sign those necessary replacements. But who should the Scot sign? We look ahead to ten players - some already linked, some not - who could make United stronger in January. Click within to reveal all...
