Man Utd Transfers: 10 Talented Players Who Utterly Failed At Old Trafford

7. Eric Djemba-Djemba

This wouldn't be a list of Manchester United flops without possibly the most famous of all - Eric Djemba-Djemba - and it really isn't a simple case of saying he was just too poor to play for them. The Cameroonian footballer showed plenty of talent and promise at French club Nantes - and clearly enough to attract interest from Manchester United at least, for whom he was purchased for £3.5million as a future replacement for the 31-year-old Roy Keane. No pressure then. He was considered a feisty and fearless player with a great tackling ability, but all Premier League fans and players saw was a relentless, aggressive player who fouled anything and everything with comical over-enthusiasm. His form was atrociously inconsistent, and whilst he has passion, he demonstrated it in all of the wrong ways. After disappointing, Djemba-Djemba was shipped off to Aston Villa, where he also failed before moving to several other clubs including in Qatar, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Partizan. Most recently he turned up playing for St Mirren last season, with the hope that his performances would earn him a place in Cameroon's World Cup squad but somewhat inevitably was released after making just two appearances for the Scottish side.
